FEAR of Starting Something New

5/26/2020

What is it that keeps us from starting Cardio Kickboxing?

People have voiced their concern over the years, the reason why they haven’t made it into a fitness program.  Here is a list of some of those honest reasons;
  • Lack of skills/balance/coordination
  • Looking stupid/uncoordinated
  • Cost
  • Getting injured
  • Lack of time
What fears reside in one person’s mind is very often the same major hurdles for others.

In this article, I challenge your mindset and attitude about starting anything new and different.

What is fear?

For most situations we face, our fear can be categorized as ‘False Evidence Appearing Real’.  Our mind knows how to keep us safe and secure, so much so, it places signals and concerns in front of us to keep us from anything that could be considered harmful.  Even if the fear is an illusion, we perceive it as real.  Fear keeps us from trying new things, things that once we have tried, are nowhere as harmful as we once believed, not harmful or threatening.

We see a red piece of metal and our mind immediately tells us that it is HOT, simply based off the color!

What fear is more debilitating than public speaking?

Most people know that they will never voluntarily place themselves in front of a crowd to lead a speech.  For most people, public speaking is never an issue.  However, regardless, standing next to others or even by yourself, doing something and looking stupid, awkward, falling, or failing will take center stage in our minds.  We fall in an empty room, we immediately look to see who is around.  Alone we still feel embarrassed.  People live in a self-made prison of their own fears.  A life lived without fear is not only something we all deserve, it is something that is completely possible for all of us, without exception.

People DON’T start an exercise program because they do not want to look stupid trying something new.  Something they might look awkward doing, and afraid it will take longer for them than anyone else to learn.

FREE private sessions are available to new students, this helps you to train with more confidence, no one needs to ‘go it alone’.  It doesn’t matter how many you need, moving forward is never the same for any 2 people.  The results are all that matters.  Remember that everyone has this same fear, and everyone has stumbled and will make mistakes, that others never think twice about.  They are more worried about their own shortcomings.

How much experience do I need?

NONE!  It is as simple as that!  Blank canvases are much easier to paint on than a canvas that has many layers of paint.  Meaning, people can carry with them bad habits and many other philosophies of what is correct.  If you have experience and keep an open mind, training will come easier than someone who knows all.  Be an anxious student, with a desire to learn and above all else, push yourself above and beyond.

Training at home is not motivating, why should I?

Lack of motivation comes from the mindset of the person!  Not the surroundings, music, other people, or the equipment!  I have trained at martial arts schools where the instructors didn’t enjoy what they did, and this transcended to the students.  Some students train with the same de-energized attitudes and never receive the benefits of the gift that presents itself to every one of us.
Attitude can be a driver, helping to push us in the right direction: A Temperament That Inspires True Understanding, Development, & Excellence.  Smiling takes fewer muscles than frowning, yet what do most of us do?  A great attitude is the same, allowing us to unburden ourselves from some weights that would otherwise bring us down.  Train with the attitude that, ‘everything I am doing is for my benefit’, I am growing stronger with every minute and with every drop of sweat equity that I create!  There is no harm, there is no wasted energy!

Our COVID situation is only temporary.  We will come out this stronger and better than when we went into isolation.  Know that we are not allowing shifts in what we called ‘normal’ to alter our objectives.  Strong minds, strong bodies, and a strong emotional mindset.  Start To Realize Our Natural Greatness

Don’t place limitations on yourself now or in the future.  Training from home could be considered simpler steps that will lead to training at higher levels, together when we get together.  It also means that you have made time for personal growth and development.  Enjoy this time and learn to pat yourself on your back!  Growth; Getting Rid Of Wasting Thoughts.

See you in class!
